The first batch of ceramics that I have managed to complete was some Christmas tree decorations. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to make as many as I would have liked due to being unwell, but I’m so happy that I managed to get some completed.
Made totally by hand by rolling out a slab of clay and cutting circles of two different sizes from it. Once dry, they were sponged to give a smooth surface on which to decorate. Next, they were fired to bisque then decorated with three coats of coloured glazes. They were really labour intensive, but worth it for the quality of finished product I think. Finally, a gloss firing completed the process. I am so happy with the way they turned out!
After glaze decoration but before gloss firing.
Finished!
They were extremely popular and sold out very quickly.
I will hopefully have another gloss kiln out soon, so keep an eye on social media or subscribe to our emails for more information.
Happy New Year to you all!
